Angus Rowland is a registered Professional Natural Scientist (Pr.Sci.Nat.) and a Fellow of the Geological Society of South Africa (FGSSA) with 17 years of experience in hydrogeology and mine water management. He is the Country Manager (South Africa) and Principal Hydrogeologist at Piteau Associates Engineering, a leading global consultancy providing geotechnical and water management services to the mining industry.

As part of his role, Angus is responsible for the overall management of the Piteau Associates South Africa office, as well as the main point of contact for hydrogeology, mine dewatering, and pit slope depressurization projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. He also serves as a member of the Piteau Group Senior Management Team, contributing to the strategic direction and growth of the company. Angus has a proven track record of delivering value to clients through the design and execution of mine water management systems including hydrogeological investigations, conceptual and numerical modelling, technical assurance, and operational support. He has a particular focus on the integration of water management into the mining value chain, from project evaluation through mine design and construction, to closure. He has successfully led and participated in multiple large-scale dewatering projects for open pit and underground mines, especially in the Copper Belt region, and is focusing increasingly on improving water management for complex underground mines such as block caves. Angus is also interested in the deployment of new technology and innovation in the field of mine water management, and has authored and co-authored several publications on this topic. Angus is passionate about applying his expertise and skills to help clients achieve their environmental and operational objectives, while ensuring the sustainability and safety of the water resources.
